Abstract

It is shown that a simple rule allows to estimate the contribution of stars in any particular evolutionary phase to the integrated light of a stellar population. On the basis of this rule some preliminary predictions are made on the evolution with time of the integrated colors of a stellar population. Finally, the problem of the extreme UV excess in old stellar systems is briefly discussed.

Résumé

On montre qu’un règle très simple permet d’estimer la contribution des étoiles dans une certaine phase évolutive à la lumière intégrée d’une population stellaire. De cette règle on déduit quelques prévisions préliminaires sur l’évolution avec le temps de la couleur intégrée d’une population stellaire. Enfin, on discute brièvement le problème de l’excès UV extrême dans les systèmes stellaires vieux.
