Control of chemical equilibrium through optical pumping

Kastler has shown that the equilibrium rate between alkali dimers and atoms can be changed by optical orientation of the unpaired valence electron of the atom. Optical pumping experiments performed in Pisa which prove Kastler considerations are here recalled.
Résumé
Kastler a montré que le taux d'équilibre entre les atomes alcalins et leurs dimères peut être changé par orientation optique de l'électron de valence célibataire de l'atome. Nous rappelons ici des expériences de pompage optique effectuées à Pise qui vérifient les considérations de Kastler.
