We investigate the conditions of optical (m) reconstruction of X-ray ( nm) Gabor holograms, for the highest possible resolution. First, a careful theoretical analysis shows that, in this particular case, the resolution limit (in the object plane) allowed by diffraction can be as small as . Then, we derive the structure and specification of a dedicated optical system, for a diffraction limited reconstructed image, with a magnification of 180, and an object resolution of (m).
